Sandbanks Provincial Park is home to three of Ontario's prettiest, largest and sandiest beaches: Outlet, Sandbanks and Dunes beaches offers not only great swimming, but windsurfing, sailing and boating. With its dramatic sunsets and spectacular winter storms, Long Beach in Pacific Rim National Park, on the west coast of Vancouver Island, is nearly engulfed by rainforests. On the east side of Vancouver Island, Parksville and nearby Qualicum beaches have shallow and surprisingly warm water, which make both popular family destinations. Evoking images of Frankie Avalon and Annette Funicello in Beach Blanket Bingo, Sauble Beach on Lake Huron, at the base of the Bruce Peninsula, boasts more than 11 km of golden sands and warm, ocean-like waters. Less than two hour's drive northeast of Regina, the south end of the tree-and-dune enclosed Good Spirit Lake is a beautiful spot with shallow waters, making it ideal for children. Known as the singing sands and often referred to as the best beach on the Island, Basin Head Beach, just east of Souris, P.E.I., has beautiful white sand that squeaks when walked upon. The lagoon at Kouchibouguac National Park, on the eastern coast of New Brunswick, features the warmest salt water north of Virginia.
